Chillers & FCU Systems in Riyadh

Chilled-water air-conditioning solutions for buildings and projects, from the cooling plant to the fan coil unit serving the occupied space.

UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM

Two components. Different jobs in one chilled-water system.

The chiller and the FCU are not interchangeable. Each has a separate role in the cooling system.

CHILLER · COOLING PLANT

Produces chilled water.

The chiller serves the central chilled-water network. Its type and capacity are selected according to the cooling load and project design.

  • Part of a central chilled-water system
  • Selection depends on project requirements
  • Works with pumps, piping and terminal equipment as designed
FCU · FAN COIL UNIT

Cools air inside the room or zone.

A fan coil unit uses chilled water through its coil and moves conditioned air into the occupied space.

  • Indoor terminal unit
  • Connected to the chilled-water network
  • Thermostat and control arrangement depend on the system
HOW IT WORKS

From chilled water to room cooling.

FAN COIL UNIT · FCU

The FCU is the room-side part of the chilled-water system.

It receives chilled water at the coil, moves air across the coil and serves the space according to the selected unit and control arrangement.

PROJECT SELECTION

There is no fixed chiller or FCU capacity for every building.

Selection starts from the cooling load and system design, then the equipment is matched to the project requirements and available manufacturer data.

  • Cooling load
  • Building use and zones
  • Chilled-water system design
  • Equipment and control requirements
  • Available drawings and schedules
  • Existing system data, when applicable
NEW OR EXISTING SYSTEM

Start from the project stage you are in.

For a new project, send the available drawings and requirements. For an existing system, send the system information and the operating issue before the service scope is confirmed.

New chilled-water project

Share the project use, drawings and current design information for scope review.

FCU requirement

Share the unit schedule, drawing or existing unit information when available.

Existing system issue

Diagnosis follows inspection and system data before a confirmed repair scope is stated.

BEFORE YOU CONTACT US

Send what you already have.

You do not need to estimate tonnage or FCU capacity yourself.

  • Project drawing or layout, if available
  • Cooling load or equipment schedule, if available
  • Photos and model information for an existing system
  • Project use and location in Riyadh
QUICK ANSWERS

Chiller & FCU questions.

What is the difference between a chiller and an FCU?

The chiller produces chilled water for the HVAC system. An FCU uses chilled water through its coil to cool air inside a room or zone.

Does an FCU use refrigerant directly?

In a typical chilled-water fan coil system, the FCU is cooled by chilled water passing through its coil rather than by a direct refrigerant circuit at the room unit.

How is chiller or FCU capacity selected?

Selection is based on the project cooling load, system design and equipment requirements. Capacity is not fixed from a general room-size table.

Can you help with an existing chiller or FCU system?

Yes. For an existing system, the next step starts with the available system information and inspection before a confirmed diagnosis or repair scope is defined.
